1.2.3. How do you cut through the noise?

Hey there— Alex here,

With the amount of “noise” that surrounds us these days, being present can sometimes feel impossible.

I must admit that I have always had a hard time being present. This can make me a bit of a shitty listener.

I’ve noticed that only when I cut through distractions and bring my full attention to the moment is the only way I can set a solid foundation of trust and empathy when conversing and relating with the people in my life.

I’ve been guilty at work and in my personal relationships of turning on autopilot and missing out on a deeper connection or important moments to understand and learn about the people around me.

Hosting the podcast has really helped me stop thinking about what to say next or stray off into the clouds of distractions during conversation. It’s been ear-opening and beautiful.

I have a long way to go, but I hope that I can always be someone that you can not only lean on, but also come to for an engaged, empathetic ear.

“We have two ears and one tongue so that we would listen more and talk less.”
