1.2.3. Enduring the Restaurant Industry

THREE QUICK BITES TO ENHANCE YOUR OUZZA GAME

ONE

The restaurant industry is brutal. Downright Masochistic. It really takes a certain person to be like, yep I’ll do that for the rest of my life. Owning one is even more painful. When days are slow I’m stressing about what I’m doing wrong, when days are busy I’m stressing about what I’m doing wrong. There aren’t many huge battles won. It’s always a work-in-progress…a lot like everyday life.

It’s about enduring the bad days, moments, and problems to reach this idea of what I am running towards. I think it’s important to set goals, to be able to measure your progress, to move the sticks and push harder, but to be able to look back at the mountains you climbed too.

There is a reason that there is a finish line. If we all keep running we will eventually die from exhaustion. I don’t know what that finish line looks like though, it’s changed a lot over the years, and it’s changed exponentially in just the last couple months.

I know that I have plenty of ass kicking’s, long days, sleepless nights, and pain that I will have to endure, but when I cross the finish line in 5 years or 45, I’ll know what the end feels like. Whether that’s death or it’s some stopping point of bliss, who knows? I know its not about the finish line, but about the journey…For now, keep the shit storms rolling in, I just bought a new coat and I’m ready for a climb.

THREE

“Come what may, all bad fortune is to be conquered by endurance.”

Virgil (the poet)

All things can be conquered if we don’t give up on them, if we train, we work, we believe, we endure. Nothing is easy. Waking up sometimes can be a hard fucking task. Life is not pretty, its messy af. Death is imminent, that’s literally the only thing promised to all of us. Everything else we got to work for, endure, and conquer.

EXTRA SLICE: Life ain’t a track meet (no) it’s a marathon!

Love, crust and pizza dust,

Alex
