1.2.3. We Become What We Do and Say

Hey, it’s Alex—

For the past two years I’ve been going through something, which I won’t talk about here except to say that it’s beyond my control.

The situation has created an ongoing battle to manage my anxiety and to compartmentalize the issues so they don’t consume my every thought.

It is a burden that weighs heavily on me, influencing my personal and business decisions.

It’s so difficult to separate ourselves from pain or to make sound decisions when influenced by anger and panic.

One important lesson I’ve learned from dealing with things beyond my control is the danger of creating a narrative that blames the situation for why other things in my life aren’t working out.

Doing so in the past has only created a self-fulfilling prophecy.

We become what we do and say. I constantly remind myself of the need to reprogram my thoughts, and get a grip on the negative self-talk to avoid this kind of pitfall.

I don’t mean to speak cryptically, one thing I pride myself on is transparency. I hope that one day soon I can share this part of my journey openly.

Despite everything, I’m thankful for all my trials, including this one.
