1.2.3. The Illusion of More, Finding Your Gift, and A New LA Pizza Pop-Up

Hey, it’s Alex,

It’s easy to fall into the illusion that we always need more, especially as a restaurant owner and entrepreneur.

I don’t know if it’s a distraction to keep us from realizing who we are, constantly searching through a new sale, binge-watching a new television show, thinking about the next big thing, or doom-scrolling all night long. It feels like there’s no time to sit and reflect on what’s going on around us.

Sometimes, it’s a chain reaction of emotions or pleasure-seeking that gets in the way of self-realization. Having a family has placed a lot more importance on connection for me.

Telling people I love, appreciate, and admire them before it’s too late has become crucial.

Too often, we get caught up with superficial things, and I remember the best moments in the world are a hug from my son, a good conversation with Hiller or Andrew, or simply laughing with my wife.

It’s good to know that material things never bring me as much satisfaction as these connections do.
