Hey It’s Alex,
I’m realizing the profound impact a single word can have on the clarity and influence of a message.
Whether communicating with a team member or diffusing tensions with an upset customer, selecting the right words is crucial.
Equally critical is the language we choose in defining ourselves. Being honest with ourselves is essential, as is acknowledging our vulnerabilities and weaknesses. Often, we construct narratives that chip away at our confidence and fuel insecurities.
However, it’s equally vital to offer ourselves compassion and become our own greatest champions, mirroring the support we readily provide to our friends and family.
Why do we find it effortless to extend grace to those around us but struggle to treat ourselves with the same kindness?
I’ve grappled with moments of overconfidence and periods of self-doubt. Right now, I’m dedicated to being my primary source of support. To shape the world I desire, I must first believe in my ability to do so.
This entails mastering my inner critic and fostering a true belief in my capabilities.
“The inner speech, your thoughts, can cause you to be rich or poor, loved or unloved, happy or unhappy, attractive or unattractive, powerful or weak.” – Ralph Charell
I was lucky enough to see one of my favorite people in pizza this week, Nick Camacho of Lucky Nick’s Pizza.
I saw him once for dinner (with Janet from Pizza Baby, also a gem of a human!), and again to eat some of his pizza. Nick is a great example of someone who cares about his craft; the way he talks about food is inspiring.
He is an incredible chef, the greatest dad to his two girls, and an amazing husband and friend. He is a person who makes this industry and the world a better place. I am lucky to know lucky Nick!
