1.2.3. Being a Conqueror, Not a Victim

Hey there— it’s Alex,

Stress is an inevitable part of life, especially in the restaurant industry, but managing it in a healthy way is crucial, because it can be detrimental to your health.

What helps me sleep at night is knowing that every stressful situation will eventually end.

Over the past couple of years, I’ve faced a lot of stress with the birth of our child, opening a new restaurant, and other pressures affecting my team and family in the background.

It’s reassuring to realize that within these stresses and struggles lie our blessings.

Pain is only as severe as we allow it to be. It’s easy to fall into a victim mindset, but it’s much harder to be a conqueror.

The stress I experience today will prepare me for tomorrow’s challenges.

Hopefully, in the future, things won’t necessarily get easier, but I’ll care about them less.

“It’s not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it.” – Hans Selye

I feel like the perfect dessert for a pizzeria is a simple chocolate chip cookie.

Keep. It. Simple.
