1.2.3. Keeping Up With The Joneses, Exercising Restraint & Enjoying Simplicity

Hey— it’s Alex,

You can’t please everyone all the time.

And if you try, you’ll likely sacrifice your own needs in the process.

In the restaurant industry, there’s often pressure to adjust menus or add trendy items in order to keep up with the Joneses.

It’s challenging to resist this urge, but restraint is key.

Similarly, in relationships, we often mold ourselves to fit someone else’s preferences, but this isn’t healthy for us.

Over time, I’ve learned the importance of slowing down and crafting a menu that reflects my vision rather than chasing popular trends.

Similarly, I strive to be authentic in my interactions with others, rather than trying to cater to their expectations.

It’s about offering genuine experiences, both in the restaurant and in personal connections.

“You’ll never know who you are unless you shed who you pretend to be.”

I’ve been crafting the dough of this cheese slice pictured above for a client recently, and I’m excited about the results. Working with a straight dough recipe, for once, has been quite enjoyable since I’m usually immersed in sourdough starters.
